Camping Trips Make for Memorable Family Vacations
It’s been said that kids will remember the family camping trips long after they’ve grown up, left home, and have their own families. This is true even if they appeared not to enjoy them very much at the time. There’s just something about the time spent together on a camping trip that makes for enduring and fond memories.
But what do you do if your idea of “roughing it” is spending a weekend at the Holiday Inn?
What Is “Glamping”?
“Glamping” is really just another name for glamorous camping. You could say it began way back when wealthy Europeans started taking safaris through the tropical jungles. The basic goal of glamping is to be able to experience the joys of nature without having to put up with all the drawbacks associated with “camping.”
How Does “Glamping” Differ from “Camping”?
The differences between glamping and regular camping can be summed up in two words: comfort and amenities.
Tents might be made with designer materials and colors – and include features such as electricity for lighting and climate control.
Full-size air mattresses (or even spring mattresses) replace smelly sleeping bags or uncomfortable cots.
Other amenities might include comfortable transportation to and from the excursion site, a full-course meal, and even laundered clothes at the end of the day’s adventures.
What Can I Do on a “Glamping” Trip?
You can do all the traditional adventure things like hiking, river rafting and jungle safaris -you just do it a great deal more comfortably!
With the current trend for “staycations,” glamping is likely to increase in popularity. In fact, statistics support this trend. Outdoor equipment store, REI, notes sales of family tents are up by 15%, and campground reservations, and fishing licenses have all increased year-over-year.
